Eight companies exhibit Andalusian ICT in CEBIT 2010

Andalusian companies Forware Spain, Grupo ACT Technology, MTC Soft, Real Track Systems, Soluntia, Telvent, Open Ximdex Evolution and Froggie Marketing Mobile Solution will exhibit their products for five days in CEBIT 2010, the largest international fair in the ICT sector.

In this framework, the Andalusian regional government aims at reaching one of its objectives regarding the ICT sector in Andalusia: encouraging competitiveness in global markets as a priority element of action, contributing ideas, prospective and course of action. The regional government finds it crucial to be present in global markets so that the course that ICT take at an international level is observed as a reference point.

Professionals in the ICT sector and international markets belonging to public institutions will be present at the fair: IDEA (Agency for Innovation and Development in Andalusia), Extenda (Andalusian Agency for Promotion Abroad) and Sandetel (Andalusian Society for the Development of Telecommunications) and several Andalusian companies in the telecommunication sector with a high international activity.

In this sense, and as Benigno Lacort (Sandetel Managing Director) has stated “the international situation seems to be improving. The Mobile World Conference has just been held in Barcelona and now we can see that Cebit is in full swing; so we believe there are varied options to improve Andalusian presence and, if possible, to attract some investors. I would also like to highlight the common effort that is being made, not only from Andalusia but also from the central government, since we are under the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. Seven is the number of Andalusian companies here present supported by Extenda and other institutions.”

One of the participating companies in Cebit 2010 is Telvent which, as pinpointed by its Institutional Relations Director Adolfo Borrero, “we are participating in Cebit in order to publicise the technology Telvent is developing in the area of smart grids, accompanying at the same time the Spanish delegation in Spain Pavilion.” That is why Telvent is presenting basically two solutions: one called TiPass, used to control passports in borders and the solution named Smart Grids focussing on the energetic efficiency in the grid.”

Although Andalusian participation has not been very high, according to Adolfo Borrero, the companies in Cebit have set high standards for the ICT sector in Andalusia. He also acknowledges the effort made by Andalusia government through its regional Innovation, Science and Business ministry in order to have companies travelling to this international event because “we have collaborated at all times with the regional government to make it possible for Telvent to be here today and the boost has been considerable.”

The largest international fair in the ICT sector

CeBIT, held every year in Hannover, is the largest fair in the world where digital solutions in the ICT sector are presented. The event in 2010 will have Spain as associate country due to ‘its spectacular development in the last years in the field of the  Information Society’, in the organization own words.  The event will take place from 2nd to 6th March 2010 and will coincide with the Spanish presidency of the European Union Europe, the first semester of 2010.

The associate country in each edition of CeBIT  has a central role and its participation is materialised in national pavilions, participation of a high number of companies and high level plenaries, among other features.
